Objectives

The Tuning Research Unit aims to stimulate academic discussion on different aspects of teaching and learning practices in higher education. It promotes research into:
  1. the Tuning methodology, its implementation and impact on higher education; and
  2. competence and outcomes-based student and learning centered teaching, learning and assessment in higher education in general.

It also makes the data collected in the Tuning projects and activities readily available to researchers.

Concrete actions and how you can get involved

A number of scholarships for short-term visits are made available annually to support individual academics doing research on Tuning-related questions.

Tuning Impact
Research

The Tuning Impact Research projects maps and describes Tuning promoted changes which may have occurred in institutions participating in Tuning projects. The first mapping stage has been completed, and cases of successful implementation of the Tuning methodology have been identified. Further qualitative research will now attempt to fully describe a selected number of cases. A further aim of the research is to develop a model for better evaluating the impact of projects on practices.

Tuning
Symposiums

Tuning Research and Good Practice symposiums are organized within the framework of different Tuning projects.

The Tuning
Journal

The Tuning Journal for Higher Education (TJHE) is a biannual peer-reviewed journal that publishes in English original research studies and reviews of student-centered learning and outcome-oriented education reforms at university level.
